Approx cost: €0.60
Approx calories (per tablespoon): ~40
Approx preparation time and cooking time: 5 minutes

Tartar sauce goes really well with deep-fried seafood, providing a slightly tangy taste to cut through the oil and this simple recipe can be prepared in just a few minutes.

Ingredients

Tartar Sauce Ingredients

Ingredients you'll need for this dish

– 2 individual pots of Natural Yoghurt
– 3 tbsps Mayonnaise
– 2 or 3 small pickled cucumbers/gherkins (the type which are about 6cms long – if not, using about 8-10 or so of the small “cornichon” style ones)
– 1 tbsp Capers
– Salt
– Pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop the pickled gherkins/cornichons finely and add to a bowl with the capers, mayonnaise, yoghurt and some salt and pepper. Mix well. If possible, make several hours, even one day, in advance, to allow the flavours of the capers and gherkins to properly infuse into the yoghurt/mayonnaise. Serve with deep-fried seafood!

You must be in my head when it comes to these dips lol. I love tartar sauce. You make it similar to me but I only use basic ingredients in mine like mayo, relish, and sometimes a little garlic. Basic and goes with everything. I have to try your recipe 🙂

      "and goes with everything"

It does, doesn't it?! In England this stuff is served almost exclusively with fish and chips but I find it actually goes with pretty much everything. Meats – gooooood, bread and cheese – gooooooood, veg – goooooooood, chocolate – goo…er, ok, maybe not chocolate :p

Hope you had a good weekend 🙂
